Megan Rapinoe is an American retired professional soccer player who played as a winger. She played for the US national team and Seattle Reign FC of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) for the most of her playing career. Rapinoe was born to Denise and Jim. She has five siblings, one of whom is Rachael, a fraternal twin. Rapinoe’s older brother Brian, a sibling, served as her inspiration to take up soccer. Regretfully, Brian began misusing drugs and was incarcerated as a youth and in several state prisons.

Rapinoe along with her fraternal sister, turned to soccer as a way to get away from the prevalent drug misuse in the neighborhood. Her father coached her while she played throughout her early years.
